EVERY YEAR, THE AEFCT UNIVERSITY STUDENT ASSOCIATION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ORGANIZING THE FRESHMEN’S WEEK FESTIVAL. WE HELPED THEM CREATE THE VISUAL IDENTITY FOR THE 2024 FESTIVAL.

THE RIGHT MARGIN

Every year, AEFCT organizes Freshers’ Week—one of the largest university welcome events in Portugal. In 2024, we were challenged to create a new visual identity that captures the festival’s youthful, irreverent, and infectious spirit.

We were inspired by the sound waves and the energy felt throughout the venue, the chest-thumping bass, and the connection of thousands of students with the music. Red dominates the palette, intense and vibrant, just like the experience each night of the festival.

In the visual language, we used angular shapes with dynamic patterns that evoke musical equalizers. The distorted and unstable typography reflects the event’s constant pulse and movement. The layout and graphic elements were created to capture attention on social media and at the venue, guiding freshmen inside and outside the festival.

The result was an identity that not only represents the music, but also the collective sense of celebrating the beginning of a new phase in the students’ lives.
